It’s the holiday season and one thing I like to do is put myself at the top of my gift giving list. Treat myself for working so hard all year round….not that I completely forget to think of myself the rest of the year but lets say I like to spread the giving to myself when I am out there making my shopping rounds. Hint, hint: I don’t make everything I give!
So, let me recommend a few books to jump start the making bug in your household.
The Crafter’s Devotional is a book filled with how-to information in paints, mixed-media, crochet, embroidery, paper creations, you name it you will find the basic information you need to get going. It is meant to jump-start your will to make over 320 pages.
The next book is a family oriented book: The Creative Family: How to Encourage Imagination and Nurture Family Connections to which I would add …through shared creative moments.
The product description reads:
When you learn to awaken your family’s creativity, wonderful things will happen: you’ll make meaningful connections with your children in large and small ways; your children will more often engage in their own creative discoveries; and your family will embrace new ways to relax, play, and grow together. With just the simple tools around you—your imagination, basic art supplies, household objects, and natural materials—you can transform your family life, and have so much more fun!
The author Amanda Blake Soule is a mom, a writer, a blogger and a maker of things. She has written a number of books on her philosophy of making and doing together as a healthy and soulful way to create the happy bonds that last in families.
