Hi everyone!
I wanted to let you know that I will be speaking on October 9th about “overthrowing stigma in mental health” as part of the Douglas’ Mini-Psych school.
I will explain the causes of stigma, what works to counter stigma and what doesn’t. I will also speak about the changes that can happen right now to make a difference. The talk will be in the Douglas Hall, and begins at 7pm. Registration starts at 6:45pm. There will be a question period at 8 pm, so get your questions ready! I’m also going to talk about my own experiences in order to show that everyone can recover!
I hope to see you there:)

Thank you so much for sharing. I did attend the lecture tonight and was humbly touched. You gave us lots to think about but mostly it confirmed my thoughts on many things. I work with mental health professionals and it irks me to hear some comments…no, I don’t think it is always due to their working with “customers” whom are suffering…but some have lived “dans de la ouate” and have no life experience on human suffering. I went back to university at 35 and it took 9 years to get my degree, raising 2 children, living in an difficult relationship…but I lived life B4 and so I feel so privileged when someone shares “their story”…they are the experts of their lives, and I am a facilitator in most cases…unless there is a crisis…but 90% of the time in my work, my “customers” just need ideas to empower them.
Bless you and thank you for giving so many people hope.
Warm regards,
Cheryl-Lynn
You could not miss me…I was in the 3rd row right in front of you:)
